Cambodia 2027
Sometimes God opens new doors for ministry through relationships that have been developing for years. Such is the case with an exciting new partnership between Base Ministry and Agape International Missions (AIM) in Cambodia.
For the past eight years, Dave Macaulay has traveled to Cambodia as part of a law enforcement training team, working alongside AIM's SWAT team in its efforts to combat child sex trafficking. During these visits, Dave has developed deep friendships and trusted relationships with AIM's Cambodian staff and leadership. Through these connections, he has witnessed firsthand the dedication of those serving on the front lines of AIM's ministry and their heart for bringing hope and transformation to Cambodian communities.
AIM Overview
Founded in 2005, AIM is a Christ-centered organization committed to combating child sex trafficking through rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration, and community transformation. Its mission is to free hearts, lives, and communities from the evil of sex trafficking in Jesus' name and in Jesus' way.
As AIM continues to strengthen its outreach, its leaders have identified an opportunity to reach children and youth who are not currently connected to AIM's schools, churches, or existing programs. Recognizing the tremendous popularity of soccer among Cambodian youth, AIM desires to expand its sports ministry through The Lord's Gym, using sports camps to build relationships, share the Gospel, and introduce young people to the hope found in Jesus Christ.
Base Connection to Aim
Renée Macaulay, Dave's wife, is actively involved with Base Ministry, helping introduce churches and parachurch organizations to its mission, resources, and opportunities for ministry training. Through Renée's involvement with Base and Dave's longstanding relationships with AIM's leadership, a natural opportunity for collaboration began to take shape. As conversations developed, it became clear that Base's experience in equipping local leaders through sports ministry could help AIM expand its outreach to Cambodian youth. What began as two separate areas of ministry has now come together in a shared vision to strengthen AIM's existing work and equip its leaders for lasting impact.
In January 2027, a Base Ministry team will travel to Cambodia to provide leadership development and practical sports ministry training for AIM's local ministry partners and The Lord's Gym team. Training will focus on organizing and leading sports camps, developing volunteers, building meaningful relationships with youth, and using sports as a platform for sharing the Gospel.
The week will include a sports camp where Cambodian leaders can put their training into practice, gaining hands-on experience and confidence to lead future outreach efforts themselves.
A Partnership Built for the Future
What makes this opportunity especially meaningful is that it grows out of relationships God has been building over the past eight years. BASE Ministry is not coming to Cambodia to establish a separate ministry, but to support and strengthen the work AIM and its Cambodian leaders are already doing.
Through training, mentoring, and continued partnership, Base hopes to help equip local leaders who can multiply this ministry within their own communities.
Our prayer is that this partnership will produce far more than a week of ministry—that it will help develop Cambodian leaders, strengthen local outreach, and open doors for the Gospel for generations to come.
We invite you to join us in praying for AIM's leadership, the Base Ministry team, and the children and families who will be reached through this partnership. Financial support toward the $8,700 project cost will help make this training and outreach possible.
Together, we can invest in local leaders today who will continue sharing the hope of Jesus Christ throughout Cambodia tomorrow.
